About us
For more than 30 years, our family has supported children and families in South Lebanon. It began with Ibrahim and Aziza Moussa, who came from the village of Deir Mimas. They believed deeply in education and gave what they could to their community.
After their passing in 2002, the family founded the Moussa Foundation in their memory. For many years it was run informally by family members, among them Khalil Musa, Sami Moussa, Samir Musa and Wafa Moussa Aljamal. Together they awarded more than 300 scholarships and supported families in need through schools, churches, orphanages and hospitals. Many of those students became doctors, lawyers and engineers, with degrees from MIT, the American University of Beirut and the University of Michigan.
Today, the Moussa Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the United States, led by Abie Musa. Through our partnership with Lebanon's Ministry of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence on NUMŪ, our work now reaches young people across the South.
Every project begins with something a community is missing: water, a dentist, a way to stay in school, skills for today's work.
We see our work as investment, not charity: in students, in livelihoods, and in the future of the South.
When the war destroyed the solar system powering a village well, we rebuilt it. Support that continues is part of the help.
